Every person you hire will have a job coach to provide initial, on the job training and creation of:
- Step-by-step instructions for a job and success factors for each,
- Self-management data for collection for the employee and their supervisor to track success.
*ABA is condidered an evidence-based, best practice by the US Surgeon General and by the American Psychological Association.
Career Development Academy – NV
101: Introduction to Career Mapping
This 4-week class focuses on self management skills and assists students in understanding their options and opportunities for their career pathway. Content areas include setting goals, identifying support networks and value based alignment with career goals. In addition, participants are guided through the completion of a brief occupational assessment which contains recommendations by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) for future opportunities and services to be explored. All participants of the CDA-NV must attend this class.
201: Career Mapping & Job Exploration
This 90 day program consists classroom learning at High Sierra Industries and job exploration through working at one of our community partner job experience sites. Participants build resumes, learn networking skills, hone interview skills and begin to build momentum towards competitive employment. Classes run Monday – Friday 9am-3pm.
301: Job Development
Once students have participated in our 101 assessment class they are referred to our 201, or 301 programs. 301 focuses on Job development skills in order to find rapid competitive employment. At High Sierra Industries we pride ourselves on being able to quickly place motivated individuals into jobs. In 301 each participant works with a Career Development Specialist to identify any barriers that may exist, overcome them and find an entry level position.
